Wedding Season: Celebrating Love & Happiness

Aside from getting out with our dogs, Chris and I have also been very busy attending weddings and wedding functions. It’s that time of year and this year was just a big one for friends and family getting hitched. Since the first weekend of May we’ve been part of the wedding party or guests at 5 weddings.

It’s great to be involved and to be there to celebrate the marriage of loved ones, but making sure our dogs aren’t left alone too long is still a high priority. Luckily everything worked out so that we did not have to take them to their boarding facility. But timing is something we had to take into consideration for each wedding event.

Penny and Lola’s humans got married over labor day weekend. It was a beautiful Sunday for an outdoor ceremony in the courtyard of an art museum. We live close to the location so we just needed to make sure the boys were tired out, fed and had a potty break before we left for the evening. When we got home we let them out to play for a while before bed. Normally we would feed them later and put them to bed earlier, but we don’t keep the regular schedule too strict so that in cases like this, they aren’t completely thrown off.

The following Saturday Zelda and Geronimo’s humans had their wedding. I was honored to be a bridesmaid so that meant we also attended the rehearsal. We had to practice early on that day before for the wedding so I took a half day off work. For me, this meant leaving at 11AM and getting home around 11:30AM. I walked the boys and played with them before getting ready and heading off to rehearsal. When Chris got home he let them out, fed them and then met up with the rest of the wedding party at the restaurant for dinner as my date. Since it was still too early for bedtime when we got home, Ares and Chaos did what they normally do in the evening: chase each other around the living room and then lay on their dog beds and watch TV.

We were greeted the morning of the wedding by another beautiful day. But since it was going to be a busy one, Chris stepped up to make sure all the furbabies were taken care of. After dropping me and Rocky and Thelma’s mommy off at the bride’s brother’s house to get ready, it was back home to walk Ares and Chaos. Then off he went to play golf for a friend’s bachelor party. His next stop was back home to feed and take out Ares and Chaos and then over to Aunt Kristina’s to feed and let out Rocky and Thelma. Somehow he managed to pull it all off and look nice for the wedding. We had a blast partying the night away and then snuck in some cuddles with the boys when we got home.

If back to back weddings weren’t enough, we attended Chris’s friend’s wedding the next weekend. It was another beautiful day and also the day I found my own wedding dress! While I was off cake tasting and trying on dresses, Chris was making sure Ares and Chaos were walked and had playtime. When I got home it was time to eat and then off to celebrate.

And finally we finished off 4 in a row with a wedding a long time coming. We drove over to Indiana to watch two of my friends tie the knot after being together for 8 years! That was the morning we happened upon the car show while out walking the boys so it was great for them to get to have so much fun before we left for the whole evening. After eating dinner they were so tired they were asleep before we even left. Magically it was yet another gorgeous day for a mansion marriage and outdoor reception.

When I receive an invitation to any event that requires us to be gone for more than a few hours, my first thought is always about the dogs. We have to make sure they aren’t left alone for too long without a potty break and won’t have to skip their walk, playtime or heaven forbid, a meal. Although they have proven to be pretty easy going and adaptable to schedule changes, their well-being is of the utmost importance. Sometimes having furbabies makes planning things or attending celebrations more difficult, but somehow we always figure it all out.

Congratulations to all the newly married couples! We are wishing you wonderful memories in the making together and can’t wait to meet some humans babies and more furbabies!
