Sleepy Sunday 4-7-14: The Not so Sleepy Sunday

Normally Sundays around my place are pretty laid back. We take our day off from the long walk and everybody hangs out together at home. But this Sunday wasn't so sleepy, at least not the first part of the day.

Yesterday Chaos and his "cousin" Thelma did a training walk. The dogs do not directly interact but instead just practice staying calm, focusing and performing commands with the added distraction of another dog around. It went so well that we decided to do another round this morning.

We got up early and Chris went and picked up Trinity, his American Bulldog that lives with his dad. While Thelma has a much calmer demeanor, Trinity is hyper and excited around other dogs and people and always ready to play. The walk was another success and both dogs were happy to spend some family time together.

It was still cool today but feeling more like Spring and nice and sunny out. So after Trinity went back home we decided to take Ares and Chaos to a nearby park. A lot of other people had the same idea because there were people out with their pooches all over the park.

We walked the trail and practiced our commands among all the distractions. All the excitement is sort of new again for the dogs since most people and their dogs have been staying inside all winter. Getting out and about today was fun and a great way to get back into the busy park environment again.

The dogs were all smiles on the way back home and then took to their normal Sunday lounging once they saw their awaiting beds.

It's been a bit more of a busy weekend around here so it's nice to get in some time to relax this evening. Chris turned 29 this week and was on vacation so I took Friday off from work to celebrate with him. We had a nice dinner out that night with my parents and his brother at Terry's Turf Club wrangling their signature giant burgers into our mouths and testing out the drink menu.

Spring is really here and we can get out and have more adventures with the pups. Even though that means Sundays might be a little less sleepy, we are excited for the fun things we can do together. What are your plans for the season?
